Advertising
Members may post external links to note-worthy news articles at recognized news sites and informational blogs. Other external links may be removed at the discretion of the Zatrox Moderators.
Members are allowed to link to their personal websites in their sig given that they are a part of the active community. Users with “Dead” accounts (ones that have not been used in a while and/or have zero posts) may not advertise due to concerns of trying to skive off our members.
Members may NOT, under any circumstances, create topics in order to promote a website, product, service, or unapproved cause. Please ask for permission from a moderator or administrator before posting a topic to promote a movement.
Members may NOT send PMs to other members requesting that they join their site or even “check it out” unless they are asked specifically by the receiver for the website link via PM. Do not, under any circumstances, share links through PMs of indecent nature.
If you are sent a Spam PM, delete it immediately. If the PM was received within 30 minutes from when it was sent, please contact a staff member about it. Odds are after 30 minutes, someone else has already reported it, and the sender removed from the site.

Ripping
Ripping, to me, constitutes:
1. Using part or all of someone’s work and claiming it as your own.
2. Using any sort of royalty-free stock, textures, brushes, etc. and claiming it as your own. (Yes, just because you bought it, even with the owner stating that credit isn’t necessary, it’s not yours).
3. Directly copying a tutorial and claiming the result as your own work.
Anyone caught ripping will be dealt with accordingly. Punishment may include loss of rep, a warning to your account, temporary ban, and a low chance of ever becoming staff. You will also be monitored heavily.
Second offense, as if we should have to tell you twice, will result in a permanent ban of you and your IP.
There is absolutely no reason in the world why you should rip. The members and staff here are all extremely vigilant. If you rip, you will be caught. Just don’t do it.
I’ll list out a few of the grey areas here:
1. Tutorials are made for you to lean new styles and techniques, not for you to copy a graphic entirely.
2. You may post your outcomes from a tutorial in the showcase section. As a rule of thumb, I’d suggest you state that your graphic was made from a tutorial to avoid confusion/possible accusations of ripping.
3. Graphics made from tutorials should not appear in graphic of the week contests. Small styling techniques taken from tutorials are fine, so long as the graphic looks your own. Anyone found to have copied from a tutorial will automatically be disqualified from the contest.
4. Generally, it’s best not to use a tutorial when filling a request in the “Design Request” section. Using part of a tutorial for guidance is fine.
To avoid suspicions of ripping, it is suggested that you save all PSD files of every graphic you produce. This will make it much easier to prove yourself innocent of ripping if accused. Also, if the graphic was made by request, you are able to go back to make changes according to the requestor’s standards. Personally, I keep all of my PSDs in a separate folder on mediafire. For some larger graphics, such as manipulations, try to include your name somewhere on the canvas where it would be difficult for a potential ripper to remove.
I’m not saying you have to give credit for every single stock you use, just do not claim it as your own. If the maker of a graphic asks you to credit, then you MUST. Do not use copyrighted material unless you can prove that you’ve bought it/earned permission to use it. Even in such case, you should still credit the rightful owner.
If we develop a rank system, graphics from tutorials will not help you with promotion, and ripping certainly will lessen your chance of ranking higher up.
If you suspect someone of ripping, please PM any staff member or post in the Public Relations > Design Police section and the situation will be dealt with accordingly.
Polls and Cheating
A few obvious rules:
1. Do not request others to vote for you
2. Do not vote for yourself
The contests here are meant to help each graphic maker to improve. Cheating by voting for yourself or a popular member isn’t going to help anyone. You are to vote for the graphic which best completes the contest or challenge.
Allowing members to choose the winners is a privilege and can certainly be taken away. The poll results should always reflect who deserves to win, no matter how unknown the member is. To avoid additional problems, I ask that you do NOT include your name anywhere on your entry so that members are not tempted to vote for their friends.
Anyone caught trying to gain themselves votes by means of other members will be excluded from rank promotions in the future, will receive a 10% warning on their account, and will receive an automatic disqualification.
Anyone found with multiple accounts being used to cheat will be banned without inquiry.
If you have a friend/family member who uses the same IP address and is also a member of this site, please notify a staff member. This will help clear up any issues in regard to cheating in contests.
Do not use tutorials for contests except for guidance. If your graphic appears to be copied directly or partially from a tutorial, you will be disqualified.
Nudity
Essentially, if I can’t see the breasts, I’m fine with it. A few ways to get away with using nude pictures:
1. Cut off unclothed women at the shoulders, unclothed males at the waist, obviously.
2. Smudge, blend, or cover certain sensitive areas with digitally added clothing.
3. Either pixellate or blackout the questionable areas of skin. You may link to the original ONLY if you clearly label the link as mature, which, by means of this site, would be about 15+. Do NOT link to any sort of obscene, or otherwise pornographic, content. The ability to link to original works of not-so-decent art is a privilege that may be taken away. Don’t push your luck. Ex:
Original (15+ for nudity)
On first (mild) offense, you will be sent a PM warning and the graphic in question will be removed.
On second (mild), or first (severe), your account will be given a 10% warning, you will lose the chance of ever becoming staff, your chances of being promoted in rank will lessen, and your account will be monitored heavily.
On third offense, you will be banned without inquiry.
Obviously, if you post some sort of ridiculously pornographic media, you will be banned on first offense.
Mild- Visible graphic shows entire breast or parts of lower areas (from fashion shoot), link does not have a warning/rating.
Severe- Visible graphic shows any sort of sexually oriented nudity.
Language
Language on the site is restricted by means of constant moderation. There is no word filter (as far as I know)
By registering to this community, you have agreed not to use any language that which is false, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of one’s privacy, or otherwise in violation of law.
A few general words that ARE allowed:
• crap
• frig, frigging, friggen, frick
• hell, heck
• arse
• darn, drat, damn
The use of asterisks does not make the word any less meaningful. Anyone found using asterisks to attempt getting around the language rule will receive a PM warning on first offense and a 10% warning to your account on second offense.
WTF, LMAO, and OMG are acceptable. Avoid using religiously discriminatory words such as “G-damn or OMFG”. Refrain from using derogatory terms such as "fag", "faggot", "retard", etc.
Admins of Zatrox Studio reserve the right to change the rules at any time. It is YOUR responsibility to know the regulations and guidelines. Staff members hold the privilege to moderate however strictly they so choose. If you are opposed to the ruling of a staff member, please PM them stating your complaint and include how you feel the situation should be handled. However, being rude to site staff after disciplinary actions have been taken will not get you anywhere.
If you have any suggestions for the site, or for these set of rules, please either PM an admin or suggest your idea in the Public Relations forum.
